installing patches

hi
i use windows XP and have recorder 6.
i downloaded a patch (*.diff file) and i want to use it every time i install a new version / daily bulid.

i've read the documentation about patches and still haven't figured out how to use it.
which programs do i need to download? how to use them? exactly from A to B.
because i didn't understand how to use the patch program. what with the cvs and source?
i really don't understand how to make it work

please - can someone tell me excatly what to do?

First, make sure you can build your own Rockbox from source.

Install the development environment and follow the instructions.

Then come back here.
