no mistakes
waveform looks cleaner in power save mode, and i have no idea why
but power consumption is less!
as for 1.16Vrms -
in datasheet: -1.5 dBFS, RL = 16Ω, HPG = +2 dB, THD+N < -20 dB | - 60 - mW
60mW at 16Ohm - that is 0.98Vrms, and i had no load
(those waveform were taken at volume level +2.5dB, at +3.0dB there are visible distortions already)

If the high power mode is distorting at positive dB and giving nearly the same peak output voltage then possibly the voltage rails are not high enough to use the setting. Does it work in the stock firmware?

Regarding the note in the manual, the high power mode is for low sensitivity headphones, not necessarily high impedance. Usually they correlate but not always, e.g. lots of 300 ohm headphones that are very loud at <1 Vrms. But if the measurements here are accurate, the RMS out is nearly the same and the mode probably doesn't actually help sensitivity either. I think either see if it can be fixed or else disable it.

The high & low power modes are supposed to supply the same output voltage & power. So the peak output voltage would presumably be the same. High mode is just supposed to have better noise performance, and supports >192 KHz sample rates.

It would be interesting to see if the stock firmware behaves any differently, though I don't recall when it decides to use high mode. It's not hooked up to any GUI setting.

The 1V/2V RMS part is for the Q1, not the M3K. You're right that sensitivity and impedance are both important, which the manual should probably mention.

Hi,

Simple question here: I have Rockbox 75524a7eec-211002 installed on my M3K. How can I access the context menu from the WPS?

I thought it was by long-pressing the middle/select button, but it does nothing. ???

Thanks in advance!

In my more current version (220118) long-pressing the center of the touchpad still brings up the context menu from the WPS.

Hello all,

i tried to compile the UI Simulator based on the Fiio M3k for windows, but as a complete novice with that stuff i was not able to build an executable version.

On rasher.dk there is unfortunately no current UI Simulator version based on the Fiio M3k to find.

I wanted to ask if someone here with a working compiling system could provide an executable windows version of the UI Simulator, if it is not too much trouble to build one?

Thanks in advance.

It’s probably unlikely that anyone else made the same mistake as me but just in case:
I have two M3Ks one running XVortex’s now unsupported Rockbox port. The other is up-to-date with the new supported version.
I did a basic custom UI for XVortex M3K which I was happy with so when I got the second M3K I tried to instal it but it always failed to work.
It took me some time to realise that having the new Rockbox folder on the SD Card was the problem as all the directory links to the fonts, graphics and WPS etc were broken in my old files. Correcting them to point to the correct directories on the SD Card cured the problem.

I tried the latest build and noticed that embedded Album Art no longer appeared. JEPGs saved as cover.jpg or folder.jpg still worked OK. I reverted to the previous build with the same files and everything worked again with no problems.

I wonder if you might have "Album Art" from this somewhat recent change set to "Prefer Image File": https://gerrit.rockbox.org/r/c/rockbox/+/3973

If you want to try changing the value of that option in the newer build, it's under Settings -> Playback Settings -> Album Art, options are Off, Prefer Embedded, and Prefer Image File.

I did try the options in the "Album Art" setting but it didn't solve the problem.

This should be fixed in the latest build

I had the tag position off by 6 in my latest patches to the parser

Thanks for the report!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate all the work that's been done on this project. The almost instant start-up and the ease of use and all the settings available have made a big difference to this player.

I have been trying to find the option to enable the scrobbler.log feature for use with last.fm. Has this been dropped? I can't see reference to it in the M3K manual and if I go to Settings > Playback Settings it isn't there, although the scrobbling page is still on the Rockbox website. I remember I used to use it but I don't remember if that was on the XVortex version of Rockbox.
