After several different struggles to get this working I finally managed to sort out the firmware by doing the above ...  iy was a struggle ... but it is complete... and now working ... WTF!! this was a major pain ...    as it's not clear what is hapening.   What I can telll if you have V1.8 beta firmware,  you need to do the downgrade above and then also follow the same procedure using the patched FW

Sorry, I haven't tried with newer firmwares, as I bought the rocker awhile back. Glad you got it working, if you have any more issues, just post here again.

OK ... so now that Ive caught my breath and figured this out ....   here's what I got ...

If you have a rocker with the FW version 1.31 beta you need to downgrade it to v1.2 or the FW update to the rockbox dual boot firmware will not flash.

1 - follow the instructions on the previous post from a linux terminal and change the version# in the txt file as described.

2 - once that upgrade is complete.   You more or less have to do the same thing with the rockbox patched FW

3 - Install .rockbox as normal.

4 - You may be able to skip #1 altogether and just change the version number in the patched FW,  I'm not sure ...

now I'm working!

COrrect me if I'm wrong here ... DSF files are NOT supposed to show in rockbox correct?

i am struggeling to get rockbox working on my agptek rocker, not t6, with stock fw 1.31 beta.

first i copied over the rb fw, to see if it is already running due to a fw > 1.2 - no success.

@milardo - next i tried what you suggested, but i'm also getting this v-v failed error, when updating to AGPTEK_Rocker_FW_(20181207).

not sure if it is a more recent version than 1.31 beta - why dont they keep it consistent using fw numbers??

so i took the steps that understorm described, downloaded latest AGPTEK_Rocker_FW_(20181207) and edit the version.txt to

ver=2018-12-07T00:00:00+08:00

repacked to update.upt, but still flashing halts with this error.

boy, this is complicated :/

unfortunately, it also fails to downgrade from 1.31 > 1.2 following these steps.

Is it possible to downgrade firmware just by updating just it normally? Without any of those extra steps?

no, not possible.

this is on an old sd card of mine, the only one i have atm. perhaps the sd card needs to be formated by the player and empty, so to get a fw update working properly?

p.s. song playback works of course.

Yes, formatting the card might be a good idea

thanks for trying to help me, but it does not change a thing. well, i was not expecting a huge difference though, as the card was perfectly recognized by the dap even before. vfat as before.

attempts (both vanilla + edited fw):

AGPTEK_Rocker firmware update(20181207)

AGPTEK_Rocker_FW_(20171101)

Your card is formatted as vfat? Or something else?

Hello ....

I get a "segmentation fault" error when I try to add certain large folders of of music ... or even go into them

Segmentation Fault at address 0x000000004

Upgraded to the current build just this afternoon.    But the dame thing was happening on the previous build.

Mostly mp3s in that folder ... but a lot, maybe 1000
