Sansa Clip+, long boot time when sd card is inserted? Also ipod advice?

I actually have two different models of clip+, one older, one newer. Testing the new one, it takes around 26 seconds to boot up when the sd card is inside. This confuses the hell out of me, as the boot time is near instant on my older model, and all of the previous ones I had (I've gone through a few over the decade or so) did not have this issue either.

Both devices are running the latest dev. build of rockbox, 7b118ec, 2019-06-18T07:40:15.

The clip zip doesn't have this issue either.

Ideally, I want to fix this, as the one one has a wonky headphone jack (which I can fix) but the new one seems to also have a slightly brighter screen and better memory card clip system.

I'm not exactly certain what would be causing this issue.

On a side note, any advice regarding obtaining a decent ipod 5.5 would be nice. I was considering buying one pre-rigged for extra storage and rockbox since it doesn't seem android support will happen anytime soon, but the number of knockoffs and reports of rockbox issues with certain configs leaves me wary.

Another side note: What is the largest SD that the clip+ will support? DO I need to buy a certain class? I already have a decent sized one in there, but I want to know the limits.
