"Do not disconnect" while in IOS firmware when ejecting

I usually wait til the "do not disconnect" when in the IOS mode to avoid data corruption because this would always happen when I used only IOS back in the day. Does this still matter if you're on rockbox? I transfer files in IOS firmware and then boot back into rockbox.
