Clip Zip Stuck at Boot

(1/1)

Overheater:
While I was attempting to add new music to my clip zip, the device decided to crash, and corrupt the internal filesystem, causing it to become stuck at the bootloader 4.0 screen using rockbox and the flower boot screen on OF . fearing that I had bricked the device, I attempted to boot into USB bypass(?) mode by using the center button+ power, but due to the USB driver issues of rockbox, I have not successfully been able to check and repair the drive before it unmounts itself using windows. My next course of action was to attempt the same thing on Linux, where I was able to successfully have the system recognize it, but still gave errors when attempting to fully mount (dmesg reported "bogus number of reservered sectors" and "can't find valid FAT filesytem"). This allowed me to ensure that the internal system was not entirely bricked, as it still showed the correct amount of space for the drive( 3.7 GB) when I ran the lsblk command. I am now wondering what to do from here, as I can run fsck, which should remove the bad blocks found on the internal filesystem, but I am unsure if that would only make things worse. another option would be formatting, but that seems like even less of a good idea. Any advice on what to do next would be appreciated.

Do not format it if you are still able to access the drive you can do the steps here:

the only part you'll have issues with is figuring out where to copy the firmware if you have bad sectors I can help you in IRC but I'm pretty busy so it might take me a long while to get back to you If so don't do anything rash or your player will be a brick (if it isn't already..)

Since you can't run Rockbox to boot the recovery.sansa file
you'll need to short pins at boot to get to the firmware area and get me a dump just like the user in the post did just use a small screwdriver and plug the usb at the same time See: https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/SansaAMSUnbrick

the images of the OF can be found here: http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php/topic,52014.msg240738.html#msg240738

sorry I only have images for the 4GB clipzip I don't have an 8GB one to grab them from
