I'd probably try an older windows 7/8 PC (OR LINUX!) and boot into the OF (OriginalFirmware) just to be sure with several cables
and after that maybe try flexing to port up, down, side to side just slightly and see if it tries to connect
It is possible to clean up the board with 90% isopropyl (be sure to keep away from screen) and re-solder the connectors
but it is tiny fiddly work so hot air is probably a better way to go than an iron but I've found some success ( and failure) with both
