Browsing FILES not working!

On my Sansa Clip Zip, that I have been using for many many months, all of a sudden, when I try to browse the "FILES", nothing happens.

Otherwise going to through recent bookmarks, there is no problem playing bookmarked items.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try deleting the config.cfg file from the .rockbox folder on your device.

I used the utility to reinstall rockbox. That didn't help.

Then I deleted the .cfg file. That seemed to have helped, until the next reboot, and the problem came back.

How many files are on the device?
Are you using an SD card, How many files are on the SD card?

There used to be a lot of files on the external SD card. I then deleted all of them and added not that many. Then I reinstalled Rockbox using the utility.

Now I once more deleted the .cfg file, but none of this seems to help. The right button itself works fine, but doesn't respond most of the time when trying to browse FILES. Although every once in a while it does respond unexpectedly.

so if you remove the sd card does the internal memory show up properly?

Regardless of whether the SD card is in or not, when selecting BROWSE (over and over), nothing happens at all.

The first thing I'd try is removing the sd card booting into the Sansa Original Firmware and selecting Format and then re-install Rockbox
If that doesn't work you can try a special version of the firmware that exposes the full drive and copy a disk image back to the player
but this does have some risk of bricking your player and I only have an image available for the 4gb clip zip

Warning the player will not prevent you from installing the wrong image so make sure your device matches what you try to push on to it
[As In is a 4Gb player and is the image for the clip zip..]
