Ipod Mini 1st Gen Unbootable

(1/1)

pushpop:
Following the instructions in the PDF for the ipod mini rockbox firmware installation I ended up with an unbootable ipid mini. It is also not recognized as a usb device in windows or OS X and the ipod mini cannot be powered off either. Connecting the wall power adapter doesnt do anything. The Ipod Mini (1st gen) is simply stuck at a bootup loop:

"Rockbox boot loader
Version: 20060419-1114
IPOD version: 0x0004001
HMS360404D5CF00
Partition 1: 0x0B 3859
Rockbox error:   -1
Loading original firmwa"

and the bottom 3 lines from above are all flashing - it has been doing this for about 2 hours now, I don't think it will take that long to load the original firmware like it is saying its doing :)

I cannot power off the ipod mini and thus am basically stuck until it runs out of batteries

Any ideas? It appears the firmware broke my ipod in some way - how can i restore things to normal? or restore to some bootable state?

Llorean:
Hold Menu+Select to reboot, then immediately hold Menu+Play and it should go into Disk Mode.

You need to finish installing Rockbox.

pushpop:
excellent, i will try it again and make sure to read the instructions more closely

Llorean:
You'll need to copy the rockbox.zip for iPod mini over, and extract it in the root of your iPod, and then when you reboot it rockbox should load.

pushpop:
yeah, it works now thank you :)
