Which Jukeboxes have USB 2.0
« on: July 12, 2006, 04:12:34 PM »
I have a  20 GB V2 Recorder with USB2.0 that is almost maxed out on space. I am ready to upgrade, but because of my history of clumsiness, I am going to buy another on Ebay and put somewhere between an 80Gb to 120 GB drive in it.

Since I do not like the slow transfer speed of USB1.1, I was wondering which Rockbox platform is USB2.0 compatible (I do not need the recording capabilities).

Although I would prefer having replaceable batteries, like on the Version 1 20GB Recorder, I think the Archos specification sheet is in error when it shows it at USB 2.0.

The ones that have USB 2.0 are:

 FM Recorder
 Recorder V2
 Recorder 20 (v1)

The one that sometimes have USB 2.0 is:

 Recorder 15 (v1)

The ones that don't have USB 2.0 are:

 Recorder 6
 Recorder 10
 Player/Studio

:) Great, because I would rather have the replaceable batteries in Version 1 than my present LiIon, but I thought I saw some postings that the V1 did not always have USB 2.0.

Why would the Recorder 15 "sometimes" have USB 2.0 - later production run or different sources of chips?

The difference seems to be that some early versions of it did have the older ISD200 chip while newer versions of it have ths ISD300 that the other 2.0-models have.
