Xduoo x3 II
« on: December 30, 2018, 11:36:39 PM »
I have the Xduoo X3 player, second version
I am interested in knowing how Rockbox works on this player?
I found a couple sites: https://github.com/xvortex, https://www.xtenik.com/latest-firmware-download/
I not sure if these are the right places to go to or which files to use. Do these places or others have the firmware I need?

Thanks,

Joe

I have the files downloaded from Vortex: X3ii_v1.0_9970b2e-181013.zip: readme.txt & readme.txt
I'm not sure what I am supposed to do with these files; shouldn't there be other files. Appreciate help to get this going.

Thanks,

Joe

The package by Vortex has
update.upt
readme.txt

Copy update.upt to the root of a sd card (formatted with FAT), insert it and start the firmware update in the systems settings.

I did this yesterday.

I tried updating today. First with the stock firmware and then the Rockbox firmware. When I tried to update the firmware I got an error message "Firmware update file not found"
I also looked at the music browser. There are no files found in the TF card or OTG device (not sure what this is).
I installed a card from Kingston, 8G before I started. I don't know how to switch between them, or why the player isn't reading.

Thanks,

Joe

It worked fine for me. I can't locate the ".rockbox" folder however, some weird bugs like the image viewer.

I'm not entirely sure if it's the same or not but I have an X3 (note: it's not the same player as the X3 II) and Rockboxed it successfully. If you look on the first link you provided, there's a tab marked "Manual" which takes you to instructions, however it's titled "X3" and doesn't mention the X3 II so I'm confused as to whether the instruction apply to both devices.

You could search on the likes of Headfi to see if there's a thread for the mark II, there is definitely one for the X3 (non-mark II). Sorry I can't help more directly. 9apps

XVortex: I see that there was an updated rockbox firmware in october, thanks a lot for that ! However, the repo at https://github.com/xvortex/rockbox has had no activity since 2017, and the one at https://github.com/wodz/rockbox-wodz/tree/xDuooX3II is also one year old at this time. Where could I find the sources for the very last update ? the X3ii_v1.2_5bbc553-190915.zip file to be precise.
