iPod 5G CF card + iFlash + Rockbox overnight restore bug
« on: January 05, 2019, 05:07:50 PM »
Hey! New here.

iPod Classic 5G
60Gb model
32Gb CF card, SanDisk SDCFXS-032G-A46
Tarkan's iFlash adapter
Rockbox, latest stable build
Audio output capacitor mod, for acc. output and also headphone input

I just did the iFlash mod with a 32Gb SanDisk CF card and Tarkan's iFlash adapter. Rockbox was installed on previous HDD, so of course I installed it on the CF!

I restore the iPod as said on a thousand forums, and it works very well. Rockbox is very fast and stable, and file copy is bug-free. I can turn on or off the iPod as many times as I want.

Problem is: the next day, when I start it up, I am immediatly welcomed by the white 'connect to computer' screen. As if the CF erased itself during the night! The first time it did this I couldn't restore it with iTunes, as the file system was mysteriously changed to RAW! I formatted it to FAT32, and restarted the procedure as if it was the first time...

Now I'm back to square one as it did the same thing last night

This thread might help:

http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php/topic,51885.msg243396.html

Getting flash adapters to work in ipods generally is pretty tricky though.
