Smart Playlists - Tracking and automatically sorting based on playback info?
(1/1)
saw141:
I've found some forum posts about this but I'm having trouble figuring out if this is possible through tagging. I use a Sansa Clip Zip 4GB with a 256GB MicroSD. I'd really love to be able to have smart playlists that would auto sort when database information is gathered or even on the fly. On my iPod and iPhone I use Smart playlists to sort Podcast episodes that haven't been played, have been played, and that are tagged as "favorites". Also rating based smart playlists, and Most Played, Most Skipped, etc,. Is it possible to utilize .id3 or tagging to do something like this? I've exported playlists directly from iTunes and tried aMok playlist converter, but they only export file listings and they do not retain this functionality.

This is from the Database chapter in the manual:
--- Quote --- Gather Runtime Data
When enabled, rockbox will record how often and how long a track is being played, when it was last played and its rating. This information can be displayed in the WPS and is used in the database browser to, for example, show the most played, unplayed and most recently played tracks.
--- End quote ---
Play counts and ratings are stored in Rockbox's database but are not stored in file metadata.
There is additional information in the Wiki about customizing database queries.
