Car Adapter Mode for Rockbox 6th gen Ipod Classic
(1/1)
ThomasHunter:
Holding down a button while plugging it into the usb connection in my car stops it from going to usb mode, but on my screen blinks 'Unsupported Version'. I also have everything set up right in settings. Is there any workaround for this? Maybe I need to purchase a different cable now.
The ipod is an upgraded 6th gen with an iflash quad installed and new battery.
I installed Rockbox for my ipod here:

Is there possibly a patch or version I need to download?
Any insight/opinion is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
saratoga:
Blocking USB mode will let you use the headphone jack on your player while charging, but it will prevent the car from talking to the player. What were you hoping to do?
ThomasHunter:
I was attempting to try and listen to the device while driving. The car is a 2015 Honda Accord and when I plug the ipod in it does list it as iPod in the menu.
saratoga:
The easiest way to do that is to get an AUX cable and plug that into the headphone jack. You may also be able to get the car to mount the device like a USB thumb drive and then use its decoder's (rather than rockbox), but that can be tricky.
ThomasHunter:
I will definitely take the AUX cable route for now. The USB drive option may be something I will have to do in the near future and I will bump this thread should anything occur.
I really do appreciate the help, saratoga. Thank you!
