Advice and tips for 160GB 6th gen ipod classic upgrade w/ Rockbox installed.
« on: October 08, 2018, 12:22:07 AM »
The hard drive has died and I have decided to partake in a little project of trying to upgrade the device. So far I have ordered the iFlash Quad and will likely have 4 128 GB micro sd cards by the end of the month. The battery will also be replaced. During all of this research and ordering parts I started reading about Rockbox and was instantly interested in possibly having it run on my ipod if my installations go well.

I am making this post to hopefully read experiences from people who have Rockbox installed in a 6th gen 160 gb classic.

Also I listen to music in my car a lot. Will any issue arise with me not being able to use my ipod in my car if Rockbox is installed?

Any insight/opinions is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The iFlash adapters don't work well with rockbox, so you'll probably want to stick to the Apple firmware.

That is great to know. I really appreciate the notice, saratoga.

Everything I have read and seen about rockbox has made me really want to install it on my ipod. Truly I respect what everyone has done for it to exist. I guess I will have to look into getting the most with just the apple firmware.
