iPod Classic 5.5 - boot to iTunes without using hold switch?
« on: August 21, 2018, 11:24:33 AM »
It looks like the hold switch on my Rockboxed iPod Classic 5.5 is knackered - it has no effect when the player is switched on or off.

I use iTunes to rip and transfer my music to the iPod. But to do this, I need to boot the iPod to iTunes rather than Rockbox, which I do with the hold switch.

Is there any other way to switch firmware on the iPod Classic 5.5?

I am not sure, but I think if you are in Apple Disk Mode you can use iTunes as usual.

If you want to boot into OF, what I've found works is holding select and Play/Pause long enough for it to start booting into OF, but not long enough for it to enter Disk Mode.
