New battery slowly discharging while plugged in (4g ipod greyscale)
(1/1)
jaisongomes:
I bought a used ipod 4g greyscale off of Ebay. I expected the battery to be bad so i ordered a new one. I also got the compactflash adapter to replace the HDD. I didnt have a compact flash card so i bought a SD to compactflash adapter. I used a microsd to sd adapter to put a 32gb microSD card in there so i have a microSD to SD to CF going into the adapter.
I charged the battery to 100% before starting anything. I successfully did the restore and was able to load rockbox. I ran some errands and when i came back i noticed my battery was down to 95% while i was gone and the ipod was plugged in. The battery has continued to degrade since then and now its stuck dying and then charging and then dying again.
Are the adapters killing my battery? Would the microSD to SD to CF chain create some issue? Is my battery bad?
I really appreciate any help with this. I am really excited to have a dedicated mp3 player for work.
Thanks

I had problems with the 3.15 stable release, so I use the latest dev build for iPod G4 monochrome. It is a bit better now, more stable, no screen glitches. I have a 32GB CF card, and a new battery in it. I assumed to have about 2 times better battery life as with the original fw, because I have an iPod Mini G2, and the battery time approximately doubled after HDD to CF conversion. With iPod 4G, the playtime is almost 11 hours(10:54:39 with CF card), tested with the built in battery benchmark. This result is lower than the advertised with the original firmware. I guess it is not that optimized as for the Mini G2. The battery is discharging a from 4,084V to 3,321V.
