How can I convert id3v2-embedded PNG's to JPG's?

jamunsingh:
hello,
I'm using Rockbox on my iPod Classic. It supports showing embedded album art from MP3 files, but only if those images have the JPG extension.
Some of my embedded images have the PNG extension. The accompanying songs show up without the corresponding album art.
I'm looking for a script that will change these embedded images to the JPG format, so they will be showed correctly.
This doesn't have to be a bash script - any programming language will do.

I did exactly this with some bulk processing application, but unfortunately it was so long ago I now I can't remember which one I used. I think I might have used two different programs, one to extract all the art from the mp3s and another to convert it all to jpgs, then back to the first to re-embed all the now converted art. I might have used mp3tag for the first and last stages (that's a useful program generally and has batch processing options) and some 'bulk image converter' for the middle step.
Ah,but I'm using a Windows environment - I guess you are looking for a linux method?

I did this with an app called bliss.

It’s pretty expensive, I think around 70 bucks, but I was able to get album art for almost all albums which were missing albumarts.
I think you can demo it for 100 files or so.
