ROCKBOX UTILITY CAN'T ACCESS FILESYSTEM
« on: March 08, 2018, 09:42:44 AM »
Hi! I'm trying to install rockbox in a iPod classic (MB565). The problem is rockbox utility can't detect ANY drive, not even C or D.

Now I'm trying the manual installation through mks5lboot (from https://files.freemyipod.org/~user890104/bootloader-ipodclassic.html), but when I run mks5lboot64.exe it shuts immediately before I'able to do anything with it.

The problem is rockbox utility can't detect ANY drive, not even C or D.

That is normal, the installer can tell that your C and D drive aren't MP3 players.

Make sure your iPod is plugged in and shows up in Windows, then Goto Help -> Troubleshoot -> System Trace in rockbox utility, and then copy the text to www.pastebin.com and provide a link to it.  Do not paste it here, it will probably be cut off by the post length limits.

That log is a little strange:

[autodetection.cpp:101 INFO] [USB] detected supported player ("ipod6g")
...
[utils.cpp:618 INFO] Added: "F:/" type "FAT32"
[autodetection.cpp:128 INFO] paths to check: ("F:/")

Seems like it detected you have an ipod6g connected and added it as drive F:\.  Assuming that is correct, I think it should show up in the drop down menu in the installer.  Does the iPod otherwise work normally (e.g. itunes can access it)?

Yes, the iPod is detected by the laptop in F:/, I can access it and it works with iTunes too. But when I try the autodetection in Rockbox Utility it still doesn't find it, and it doesn't allow me to select it manually either.
