I contacted via email the Toshiba Customer Service, but they said that was not the correct part of Toshiba...
They recommend contacting their Customer Solutions Department directly for assistance with the Kernel issue.
Their number is 1-800-631-3811 and they are available Mon-Fri, 8AM to 7PM Central time.

I'm afraid to go personal :( im really bad speaking english, so if any one could talk to them to get a legal copy of the GNU Linux Kernel they used, I think that would help :P

Hello. About the old model using a Linux Kernel, specifically the Toshiba Gigabeat MEG-F40, released with a GNU license, Toshiba sould be able to reproduce a copy of that Kernel and release that copy to me. I made a patch from the Linux source I got from Toshiba. You can get it here:

For this you need

linux-2.4.18

and first apply

patch-2.4.18-rmk6

The Linux source for the Kenwood players is identical to the one from Toshiba and you can get it here:
