Sansa Clip + Freezing on "Boot 4.0" Logo Screen When Powering Up
« on: February 18, 2018, 04:11:56 AM »
Suddenly, the player is completely dead. I have to plug it to a laptop and then do the power-center reset thing in order to start, BUT then just freezes to "Boot 4.0"... The laptop "sees" the device as a 30,6mb drive (4giga is the normal) but its useless. Says that needs to be formatted to work but when i try to do it "windows cannont complete the format"...

Tried every combination of the buttons and trying booting into the SanDisk firmware by holding the left button while booting up doesnt work either. It will open after 20 tries and just freeze...

I dont care about backing up, just want my player to work.

Sorry klaris this is a sign of your flash memory dying.. when It shows 30.6 mb it means the device was unable to read the flash chip

Now the boot logo still showing is new I assume it doesn't always show the boot logo?? If it does always show the boot logo there may be a chance we can still do something

We now have a multiboot bootloader that allows booting from the SD card.. It will require a Pc running Linux, A good USB cable, a small screwdriver, and taking apart your device

basically what we do is expose the boot partition and force an image to the beginning of the drive

Here are the instructions for you to read over on the process you can get all the stuff ready BUT
I'd wait to find me or someone else on IRC before you actually begin trying to push to the device

You'll need the recovery image here:

The player was rather new (a few months of use) when this happened (about a year ago but got bored trying to save it and let it in the drawer). Now, I'd like to save the damn player if its possible...

The frozen logo appears (since this first happened) when i turn on the player. Not everytime, on the contrary it needs a lot of effort: connect-disconect the usb cable, restarting, reseting etc... When its on stays frozen until I reset it.

Is there another option like sending the player to a Sansa service??

The clip+ has been out of production for like 6-7 years so no I don't think that is an option
