Sony NWZ-A10 / NWZ-A15: new Themes (or changing Themes)?

(1/2) > >>

Viper73:
Hello,

i am using an Sony NWZ-A15 player with the rockbox Linux port. This is working great and i love my new sony rockbox player. Thank your for this great linux port.
Now i want to change some things on the theme if possible:

a) I want to have the statusbar on the top of the player in "now playing mode" so i can see the battery and volume status (in letters, not in pictures like now) when a mp3 is playing (see picture). Is there another theme available where this is shown or is it possible to change the theme myself (i have not much linux knowhow)?

b) When i am in "now playing mode" (again), i want to have the option to get to the current filesystem list/directory where the actual mp3 which is playing. (When i push the "down" button i am in the playlist, when i push back i am in the main/root directory). I want for example the option to push the "up" button and get back to the directory where the mp3, which is actually playing, is stored (and not to the root directory).

Is this possible to change or is there another theme which i can try? With my Sansa Clip+ it was very easy to change themes, i hope this is the same here (or maybe someone can change this for me)

Grets, Viper

I can answer the first part!

You can install any other theme you like so long as the resolution is 240x320. There's a search box at the bottom of the Themes pages where you can search by LCD size, or just pick a device of the right size with a large theme listing of the same dimensions e.g. Samsung YP-R0.

Installing themes is straightforward,  as the downloaded zips match the rockbox folder structure so just unzip and copy across to the appropriate folder on the Sony!

I'm currently using Rayboradio_ypr0 on my A15:

http://themes.rockbox.org/index.php?themeid=1541&target=samsungypr0

You may need to also install the font pack etc. for some of the themes:

https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/RockboxExtras

Regarding the key, there doesn't seem to be an option to define a HotKey, so I suspect you will need to change the key map to achieve what you want which will require compiling rockbox. The existing mapping / definitions can be found here:

https://github.com/Rockbox/rockbox/blob/master/apps/keymaps/keymap-nwz.c

If you don't get a response from someone more knowledgeable, you could try asking on IRC, with luck someone may evern make the change for you ;)

Rufus.

As I am a long time Clip+ user, I changed the key map to be clip like as I know that by heart.
See http://gerrit.rockbox.org/r/#/c/1656/

If you are interested I can upload a build.

You can edit every theme as you like. Have a look at https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/CustomWPS or see how it is achieved in other themes.

Check the "Follow Playlist" option in General Settings: http://download.rockbox.org/manual/rockbox-ipodvideo/rockbox-buildch8.html

First: thanks to all for the answers and help.

@RufusA
I will install the additional fonts and will try some of these themes. Great to hear that i can use all the themes with 240x320 display. I think i will find one which suits me (more than the original).

@johnb
Would be great if you could upload your key map. Then i can give it a try

@cereal_killer
the "Follow playlist" option helped me, thank you.

Now i will test some of the themes. I love Rockbox!
