Sony NW/NWZ series: destination and sounds pressure tool ...virus?

Hi all,

newbie here, so go easy ;)

i'm trying to install the 'Sony NW/NWZ series: destination and sounds pressure tool' to remove my NW-A35's volume limit (annoying & distracting/dangerous when it kicks in a warning when i'm bluetoothing in the car)

I have used search with no joy

problem is, i can't even download scsitool-nwz-v19.exe without windows defender firing up warning about Fuerboos.D!cl being a Trojan?

is this normal?

Cheers & TIA

Hi,
where did you download it from? The only valid link is the one on https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/SonyNWDestTool which gives https://www.dropbox.com/s/12slnqnu7yac6zu/scsitool-nwz-v19.exe?dl=0. Can you please try that link?

EDIT: for completeness, I tried tried running Windows Defender on the file on my Windows VM (I made sure to update Defenser) and it was clean

yeah, that's where i'm downloading from

& looks like Defender is up to date too

lebellium:
No complain from Windows Defender and Kaspersky (Windows 10) here.
I think the link is safe. I suggest you exceptionally turn off Windows Defender for the download.

saratoga:
I think Windows Defender tends to have false alarms more frequently for cross compiled tools because not very many Windows programs are cross compiled from unix so they look stranger.
