sansa clip zip dead
« on: January 18, 2018, 04:00:03 PM »
Hey everyone, I haven't used my player since I bought it really, it died right after I installed rockbox, I remember reading something that it has to be soldered in order to restart system, so I tried running it again today, the screen is either stuck at boot 4.0 or gives  usb-drv: ep0 completion whie waiting for SETUP error or file not found text.
I didn't manage to connect it to PC properly. Is there any way to save it ?

Can you reboot into the SanDisk firmware?

Not really, all I get is a message to plug USB cable but my system won't recongize it [windows 10], it might've been one of those builds which didn't turn out to be stable after all, it was installed around 3years ago or so I think

Edit: I managed to get it into mode connected/transferring from stock firmware I think, but I still cannot access the sharedrive of it as it says its corrupted and neither does rockbox utility find it

Be more specific about what happened when you tried the SanDisk firmware. It is hard to understand the problem if you don't explain exactly what happened.

Ok, it launches sandisk firmware just fine for some reason, just keeps refreshing media for a couple of minutes, I'm stunned. Can I somehow get rockbox to work with it now ?

That's how rockbox utility looks like

I cannot see any of my music files on the mp3 even though it says it's full.

Looks like MTP instead of MSC USB mode.

Yeah, change the USB mode and follow the normal install process.

Might be a good idea to check the file system for errors as well if it's crashed a few times.

I get 'not enough space for music db please free 200mb' error now and my pc doesnt recognize the player after switching to MSC

Another edit, looks like its fixed, I installed 01.01.21 stock firmware update, formatted the player, deleted bootloader and rockbox via installer and then installed it using 01.01.21 bin file, so far looks like it works, thanks for help, it was sitting in my desk for like 2 years... Will let you know if I've got any more stupid questions ;p
