iPod 5.5th Generation file transfer issues

(1/1)

deltadragonoid225:
Sometimes, whenever I want to put song on my iPod, no matter what the file type is, it'll always be stuck calculating the amount of time, and by the time it's "done" it'll act as if the iPod is not even there, and rockbox will freeze, forcing me to restart my iPod. Anything I can do to fix this?

OS - Windows 7
Model - iPod 5th Generation Enhanced (iPod Video)
Rockbox Version - 3.14 (Latest Stable Version)
Capacity - 80 GB
Type of storage - HDD
File Formats Tested - mp3, flac

Yes, I did restore it via iTunes, but whenever I try to full-format the iPod, it doesn't work.

Have you checked the harddisk for file system errors? Maybe the harddisk is dying, or the connection got bad, because the ribbon cable got loose? Have you tried an other USB cable?

It sounds like there might be some problem with the hd. It’s long past it’s expected lifetime. You might consider switching it out for a iflash drive with an sd card - it’ll be faster, larger, and last much longer.

Another thing to try is doing the file transfers while connected in Apple mode- switch out of rockbox and connect to your computer.

I see this on my ipod classic 5g as well.  Its not a disk problem as i have an iflash adapter and a perfect sdcard.    I solve this by rebooting into disk mode.
