iPod 6.5G Port - Skipping Songs
(1/1)
GernBlanst0n:
Hi Folks,
I just did an iFlash mod to an old iPod Classic 6.5G 120GB Thin unit, and everything on this build seems to be working very well. However, there is a playback issue I can't seem to nail down, and was looking for pointers on troubleshooting. If there are other users with this bug, I would like to hear their feedback as well.
During normal playback of 24K FLAC files, the device will automatically advance to the next song on some files. This seems to be consistent between files (i.e. it's always the same song), and it always seems to happen at the same timestamp on the song.
Anyone with deeper knowledge on this port have any ideas? Thanks!

That usually means the file is damaged. Since you're using a flash adapter, double check that the file wasn't corrupted.
GernBlanst0n:
Hi Saratoga,
Thanks for the heads up. The files seem to replay fine on other platforms (such as Foobar2000), so they may have corrupted during the transfer process.
I'll try re-copying damaged files on a case-by-case basis and report back. Thanks!

May I ask you, which setup you are using (iFlash adapter and cards)? Have you tried to transfer files using apple disk mode?
GernBlanst0n:
Update!
So first off, the mod I'm using is the single full-sized SD card adapter seen here: https://www.iflash.xyz/store/iflash-solo/
The SD Card being used is here (SanDisk 128GB 80mb/s): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0143IISD0
So I was having issues with the old battery no longer holding a sufficient charge, and decided it was time for a replacement.
On the upside, the track skipping issue has since vanished! I'm guessing voltage delivery to the CPU under load was wavering, and as a result, track skips were occurring.
On the downside, I tore the hold switch cable during installation. Bummer, but the device actually plays music back correctly now, so it was an OK trade in my book.
Hope this helps anyone else experiencing this problem.
