Sony installation question

Hi there,

I've been using Rockbox on Sansa Clips for a number of years and I learned how to install it with the Rockbox Utility. I'm not a techy person so that was a bit of a challenge but Rockbox was worth it.

I'm now wondering whether I would be able to install Rockbox on one of the supported Sony NWZ** players using the Utility. I don't think I'd be able to do it without. Can anyone please tell me? If it's possible I'll try to get a used Sony and install this week.

@Pamaury would be able to give a definitive answer, but from his message earlier he'll be providing instructions on the wiki. I presume at this stage in development it won't be at the fully supported stage with the Utility able to do everything for you!

Based on other players, the instructions will be straight forward, and all the required files will made available, pre-compiled for windows etc. If you have a basic computer knowledge, and can find the command prompt, you should be fine.

Hi,
indeed Rockbox Utility does not support the NWZ at the moment (I'll add that in the future) so you need to follow the instructions at https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/SonyNWLinuxPort.
At the time of writing, the instructions are incomplete because the bootloaders are waiting to be uploaded to our server but as soon as the link appears you can go ahead.
