Choose a specific folder for database (Tag Cache) to use
« on: September 13, 2017, 03:32:25 PM »
Is there a way to choose a specific folder for database (Tag Cache) to use?
As I understand the database initialization, it looks for files on the whole disk. I would like the database to be built only from files from one folder (or alternately I would like to choose folders excluded from database). Is it possible in tagnavi.config or some other way?
The reason I'd like such an option is because I use one folder (with many subfolders) for mp3 files of music collection and I use another folder for new files or podcasts, which I don't want to appear in the database.

I use iriver H10 20 GB version with Rockbox 3.14 release.

I haven't the energy to look it up, but in the manual it does explain something about using 'database.ignore' files.  Basically put file with the appropriate name inside any directory you _don't_ want to be included in the database.  If I remember correctly.  Something like that, anyway!

Here it is (always read the manual first!)

Ignoring Directories During Database Initialization

You may have directories on your player whose contents should not be added to the database. Placing a file named database.ignore in a directory will exclude the files in that directory and all its subdirectories from scanning their tags and adding them to the database. This will speed up the database initialization.

If a subdirectory of an ‘ignored’ directory should still be scanned, place a file named database.unignore in it. The files in that directory and its subdirectories will be scanned and added to the database.

There is a setting called "select directories to scan" which the manual obviously not mentions.

Thank you both!
I did tried the "select directories to scan" option as it seemed more suitable for me. First time it crashed, after another attempt after hard reset it seems to work. Should be in the manual obviously.
