What new functionality from installing Rockbox?

Hi there,

I was delighted last week to hear that a version of Rockbox for the Sony NWZ-E585 is being developed.

Being a non-techy person, though, it's occurred to me today to check whether installing it will provide me with bookmarking. The Sony doesn't have bookmarking, and I can't live without it (I'm listing to books). If Rockbox can't provide it (because it wasn't there to begin with) then I'll sell the Sony and look for something else. Apologies if this sounds daft - it's just that I'm wondering whether I have bookmarking on my Sansa Clip+ with Rockbox only because it was already there on the Sansa Clip+ without Rockbox.

The other thing I could really do with is the fast forward and rewind. At a pinch I could live without those, but it would be great to get them back. The Sony doesn't have them (forward and backwards all proceed at a constant speed, so it takes forever to get through a chapter of any length).

Many thanks, but I couldn't see anything about bookmarking or Sony.

I'm really just wondering whether Rockbox can enable bookmarking in my Sony when it isn't already there. Many thanks if anyone can help so I can decide whether to sell it or not.

Bookmarking is not device dependent. Yes, you also get them on the Sonys.

Fantastic, and thank you. I'm not techy and wondered whether it might be hardware dependent.

I think with bookmarking the Sony will be v cool. 70 hour battery life and seems very robust.
