clip zip equalizer problem
« on: August 24, 2017, 04:06:05 AM »
Hello guys
First of all I want to thank to all devellopers and the rockbox community for their work on this great software.
I'm not shure if thats the right topic but never found another user with the same problem.
I had a sansa clip plus with rockbox installed from the first day that died last week after severall years.

Yesterday I received a new clip zip which I rockboxed and everything works great but the equalizer settings:
I tweaked the equalizer to my like and would like to save a few different configurations jazz, rock, classic...
When I save the equalizer setting the screen shows the text "settings saved" but if I go to browse EQ presets there is no response from rockbox. It simply doesn't shows any rockbox or own saved preset.
I'm running rockbox 3.14

Can someone help please
Thanks in advance :)

When you click save it pops up the file save dialog are you changing the file name when you save it?
either way could you give us the full path listed (press down till it is highlighted then left/right key till you get to the beginning)
ex '/.rockbox/eqs/eq01.cfg'

Hy Bilgus
Thanks for your fast reply
First I'll show a kind of sollution that I've found and then the written path name:

Finally!!!!!!! after some research here and there I've found the saved presets in -settings/ manage settings/ browse .cfg files. All the presets are there and could finally load and test each one of them succesfully.

I went to
-settings/ sound settings/ equalizer/ save EQ presets, named the file as follows:   /.rockbox/eqsFUNK.cfg
and it's succesfully saved but when I look for it in browse EQpresets nothing shows up, the screen doesn't moves to a submenu where i should be supossed to browse between the severall saved presets.

Resuming:
presets load is posible trough manage settings but not from equalizer/browse EQ

I'd say that is the issue it should be saved in /.rockbox/eqs/
like /.rockbox/eqs/FUNK.cfg

I tried as you said /.rockbox/eqs/FUNK,cfg but a "failed" dialog shows.
The only way that , at least in my clip zip under this version of rockbox, I can save a preset is like:
/.rockbox/eqs(style or number).cfg

hmm that is rather odd well the issue is for sure that it isn't being saved in the /eqs/ folder as that is where the eq 'browser' would look for them have you tried manually moving them from where ever you saved them to the eqs folder using the file browser? first you need to go to Main Menu then long press on Files select 'Show Files' set it to 'ALL' press the back button goto Main Menu>Files> directory you saved the files to long press CUT or COPY then browse to /.rockbox/eqs/ long press PASTE

The folder /eqs was missing from the root of my player and all the configurations that I was saving where going direct to the root

I created the eqs/ folder, moved all the (custom).cfs equalization files there and now it works perfect!!!

A million thanks Bilgus!!!  :)

hmm did you do a manual install or use the rockbox installer? either way that folder should have existed, are you getting messages on startup about the install not being complete?

I installed it using the installer and didn't get any incomplete installation message during the setup.

you might try doing a manual install by downloading the latest release, rename your current rockbox folder, and copying the .rockbox folder from the zip file directly to your device.

If everything is working properly then it probably isn't imperative just keep this in mind if you have any other issues.

Besides the issue with the EQ I noticed that when recording from FM or Voice the files where going to the root but I solved it.

It looks like, as you said, the rockbox installer did an incomplete installation.
Anyway by the moment, with everything working fine, I'll leave it as it is.

Cheers
