You mean the country/region code?

See https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/SonyNWDestTool for how
and according to
https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/SonyNW#PlayerList
the answer is yes

no, not country/region code,  actually i want to change body color, because it will change menu icon color too. thats what i want, I find out in service menu, it is "Initial settings". and sony has a file call "NWA30_Color_Init_Setting_V1.00.zip" to do this action.

Hi,
I'll have a look at where the information is stored and see if I can add that to scsitool.

Hi, unfortunately I don't have a A30 to test and a lot of things changed in the A30 so I will need you to run some test to figure some things out.
Assuming you run windows, you need to download:
  • https://gist.github.com/pamaury/36b9c79b936abf300bfd203a295029ca (use the Download ZIP button and then extract the ZIP)
Put them in the SAME directory, you should have two files: nwz-scsitool-v9.exe and test_nwa30.bat. Plug your device, it should appear as a drive, note the driver letter for later (typically it will be D: or F:).
Now double-click on dump_nwa30_info.bat (maybe windows will warn you it is an executable file: that's normal). A console windows will open asking for the drive letter, enter it (don't forget the semicolon, ie D:). The script should run and put the result in a file. Please upload that file somewhere so I can see the result.

Thanks

Sorry, yes I saw the result but I was quite busy recently so I didn't act on it. Based on what see in the output, I believe your device should be "Charcoal Black", is it right?
I will add some code to scsitool and send you some instructions to see if it works.

EDIT: I realize now there is problem. There is a request to *get* this information but not request to *set*. Which means we need to find which node contains the color information. Unfortunately it is not so easy beause yours is 00 00 00 00 and there are plenty of nodes with zeroes everywhere. We would need someone with a non-black NW-A35 to run the same test.

Ok. We need the results from someone with a different color to identity where the color is stored because Charcoal Black is encoded as "00 00 00 00" which is highly unhelpful.

Hi sorry for resurrecting this, but I was looking for a way to change the colors of the UI and this is the only thing I found, I have the RED version of the player and I tried to get the dump, I followed your instructions but i get this error which results in a empty file.
I'm running Windows 10 64bit BTW.

'scsitool-nwz-v13' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

Result has been written to  sonynwz_result.txt
Hit ENTER to exit...

EDIT I fixed it by modifying the .bat file to match the latest version of scsitool here is the dump.

Hi,
thanks for you input. Unfortuntately based on the result, it looks like the color is not stored in any of the nodes I have included in the list!
I will have a look and send new instructions.
