Rockbox doesn't start after install on SanDisk Clip Sport

It says "Clip Sport" on the player, and that is what I ordered.  Of course when I ordered it, I expected it would at least play tracks in order, as that does seem sort of basic.  I didn't know about Rockbox until I started searching for a way to fix that.

BTW, the Rockbox Utility program also autodetected the player as a Clip ZIp, and went ahead with the installation with only minor glitches.  Just for curiousity's sake, what causes the player to be detected, but prevents Rockbox from actually working?  Is doing a port to the Clip Sport feasible?

saratoga:
The sport has very little ram and can't run complex software, so its not possible to port rockbox to it.

I don't think the installer will autodetect the sport (the USB id should be different), however once you have installed once on the player, it will keep recognising it as whatever is in the .rockbox folder.

Humm... How much RAM?  Would it be possible to create a stripped-down version of Rockbox that would fit?  All I want to do is play audio :-)  Where could I find technical info?

Though it seems the question may have become academic, as trying to install the latest SanDisk firmware seems to have bricked the player :-(
