Rockbox doesn't start after install on SanDisk Clip Sport
jamesqf:
I'm trying to install Rockbox on a SanDisk Clip Sport (which the utility detects as a Clip Zip). The install appeared to work correctly. I unmounted the player and waited until it shut itself down, per the manual instructions. When I restart it, however, it just runs the old SanDisk firmware, not Rockbox. Any suggestions?
I'm running Linux, using Rockbox Utility version 1.4.0. I used the Sandisk firmware version 1.01.21 for the install. The player still shows the original version 1.17 running.

SanDisk Clip Sport is not supported by Rockbox. You should have read the front page for supperted players.

Zip and sport are totally different devices. If you have a zip you can use that build, but it won't work on the sport.

I did read the list of supported players. The hardcopy documentation that came with the player says "Clip Zip", so that's what I tried to install.
So, any suggestions as to what to do with this thing? Return it to the seller, since it seems to lack basic functionality - that is, playing the tracks of a work in the correct order? Or alternative players that don't treat all audio as "songs" that can just be played in random order?

I would start by looking up what player it actually is. If they really did send you a sport and you paid for a zip, I would try to send it back.
