My device skips ahead in the middle of did

I'm trying to listen to some music and for whatever reason, my iPod  (5g) keeps skipping ahead to the next track before the current one is finished playing. How do I fix this?

Could be bad files, hardware problem, etc. People also often report this problem when using third party hard drives or ssds.
