various sansa clip plus problems

(1/1)

bucklee:
hello all,
i am a blind person, so sorry if some information will be missing or incorrect. i have several problems with my friends sansa clip plus. it is an eight gb version. when i press the power button, there is written the text "rockbox" and the version. then the screen turns off. when i plug it in to the computer, the computer says, -usb device not recognized-. and yes, i tried resetting it with the long-press of the power button. the same result. after some keypressing sometimes the menu and speech comes up, but its very rare. i tried going to the sansa firmware, the usb comes on, but i see only internal memory and external, but not actual files. rockbox cant see this drive, as it has no letter assigned to it, and couldnt find it in the disk management thing either.
any any help would be appreciated.
regards,
Michal.

saratoga:
Not having a drive letter in the sandisk firmware means that the USB mode is set to MTP, whereas MSC is required to see the actual storage.  You would need to change these, probably with help from someone who can see the screen.

Once you have the storage mounting, try checking it for errors in Windows and then copying the current build of rockbox (not the 3.13 release) to the device.

banban:
Hey,

I think my display is broken. I only just have this mp3, and rockbox, and i know how to find music. I don't know how to find anything else, though, and especially would like to know how to find 'record'. Can someone tell me what's in the main menu and in which order, and, when i enter record, if it starts recording at the moment i enter or if i have to press the 'select' button again - ?
