Rockbox 3.14 stuck on boot screen - Sansa Clip+
« on: May 05, 2017, 05:07:54 AM »
Just upgraded my Sansa Clip+ to the new version of Rockbox (3.14), but it's stuck on the boot screen - it just has "Boot 4.0" and the Rockbox logo. I noticed on the mailing list this happened to someone else with an iPod Mini 2. He just let the battery die, recharged and restarted it, and that seemed to work. Shall I try this? Any other suggestions?

Never mind, it was just being very slow. In the end it woke up. The next two times switching it on, it displayed the "Committing database" notification. Perhaps it was just doing some initialisation after the upgrade? It might be useful to notify the user that this is happening - new users especially may get nervous if their newly-Rockboxed player doesn't boot up instantly. (Of course, seasoned 'boxers like me have more trust in the development team!)

I found out today that one change in 3.14 is that if you lock the buttons it no longer lets you power off as it used to until you unlock the buttons.  While this is a good thing on the face of it, I was just wondering if an extra long press of the power button still reboots a Clip+ that has hung even if the buttons are locked?

Edit:  Just tried it and yes it does so that is reassuring to know.
