Clip+ Bookmark will not play -- returns to list of bookmarks.

I have been using a Rockbox  Sansa Clip+ for over 10 (?) years to listen to audiobooks. I love it, but the last few days the Clip has been acting "sick" . So I purchased a used one on eBay that was not Rockbox.  The first thing I did was Rockbox it.

 Now the problem.  I have it set to always create a bookmark when stopped and to keep a list of the bookmarks.  When I re-start the Clip+ the correct bookmark appears on the display.  But then I click on the bookmark IT DOES NOT PLAY and takes me back to the list of the bookmarks.

I assume that I have not set up the configuration correctly.  Any help is welcome.
