Recording on Ipod Classic 7gen (160gb)

Anyone have any idea if any work is being done with recording on the iPod classic trough the earphone jack because it has on option for this but doesn't seem to work by me (and the other option for 'line in' does not seem to work either)?

Looks like it is supported, at least on some models.
