Sansa Fuze Data Abort error
« on: April 13, 2017, 06:06:50 AM »
Note: red is a note at the side, like // in coding

When I boot in, it asks me to initialize the database. When I do, I get the following error:

Data abort at 30050580 <----- random
FSR 0x8
(domain 0, fault 8)
address 0x745F6573 <----- random too
pc: 30050580 sp: 300C91FC   <-----------˥These are sometimes there and sometimes not
bt end <-------------------------------------⅃

Here is another error I also got:

  *PANIC*
  audio_reset_buffer_noalloc(): EOM
  (65536 > 0)                                        <-----This line stays the same
pc:0003FFFC sp:300008A8 The pc: 0003FFFC stays the same, while the sp: 300008A8 is random each time
       A: 00040078 <---this is the same everytime
       T: 745F6572 <---this is the same everytime
bt end

^ this is a little more uncommon

All these are as it is on the crash screen.

I need help because I will get bored to death without my music

The version of Rockbox I am running is v3.13

What build? Something like this was fixed a couple years ago.

I've been getting what may or may not be a related error (my screen is physically broken, so I can't read any error messages) in Rockbox 3.14. It seems slightly worse when the Load To Ram option in the database menu is enabled. I also notice this when updating the database (as opposed to rebuilding the DB from scratch), forcing me to disable the super-convenient Auto Update option. I haven't had any such issue with Rockbox 3.13, so I'm guessing the bug has something to do with the new version's database enhancements.

My Sansa Fuze is a v2 varient, if that matters. Also, when I run dosfsck, the filesystem is flagged as dirty. That said, there is always the possibility that something in .rockbox is corrupt, so I'll be trying a fresh install. If that doesn't work, I may just go back to 3.13.

UPDATE: I just reinstalled Rockbox, removed the DB, partially rebuilt it, rebooted the device (with Auto Update and Load To RAM enabled), and got the bug again. I think Rockbox takes me back to the menu screen, because when it crashes, it stops playing before saying "database" (since my screen is broken, I've got voice files installed). However, when I pressed play, it resumed right where it left off without crashing, which is nice, since it usually crashes, and then fails to resume after I reboot (presumably because it crashed before it could save my position in my playlist).

Another Update: I can re-create my database from scratch with Load To RAM enabled, but only so long as I build it entirely from scratch. In other words, the "Load To RAM" and "Update" options don't work well together.  So, I guess as long as I don't update it, I can safely leave Load To RAM on. I'll just have to remember to rebuild the database manually (because auto-update will update it, rather than rebuild it, I have to leave it disabled if I want to Load To RAM).
