automatic play and folder not found
« on: April 12, 2017, 04:01:52 PM »
Hi,

First things first,

I would like to know how I can deactivate the automatic play when the iPod is powered in or out?

Second,

I have a folder called Bob Marley that I have copied to the music file but the musics aren't added to the play list unless I put all the songs out of the Bob Marley folder to put them in the main folder... is it normal?

Regards

Probably this setting if I understand you correctly:

Thank you for the fast answer

For the second question what I mean is I created a folder called Bob Marley inside the music folder , but the Bob Marley's songs arent added to the playlist unless I put them directly into the music folder without creating a new folder.

What I mean is that the new folders aren't added to the playlist and when I go on the main menu on playlist catalogue I don't have the option to create a new playlist...

Is It normal?

This is what I did on my ipod for the moment http://www.casimages.com/i/170413081811899332.jpg.html

Can't speak for anyone else here, but I'm unclear what you mean by 'the playlist'.  Which playlist do you mean?

Personally I copy playlists I've made onto ipod from the computer ('cos my file structure is essentially the same on the computer as the ipod) or I modify the dynamically-created ones using long-press-centre-button to insert tracks or folders.  Maybe there are other ways of handling playlists explained in bits of the manual I haven't read, but that works fine for me.

Are you asking how to create a playlist (m3u file)? Or how to use one you created on your PC?

I think what they're asking is, is that new music isn't added automatically into the playlist. What you have to do for new music to be added to the current playlist is to hold down the select button or middle button on the new folder that has your new music in it. Then you select from the context menu, current playlist, then insert next, or insert shuffled. I hope this helps.

Thank you @redblade8

That was exactly what I meant.

Sorry for my bad english I'm native french

But knlw if I just add a dozens of music (not folders) into the music folder will I have to add them one by one to the playlist?

Because if I add all the music folder again it makes the playlist having twice the same songs...

Why don't you just make the playlists on your PC instead of doing it on the device?

Or if your goal is to just play everything in a folder, just don't use a playlist file and instead start with the first track and let the player make a playlist dynamically.

I don't really get it....

It means I have to erase the playlist I have on the device every time and create a new one?

My goal is tohave one playlist with all thee musics and the music folders in it.

My objective is that if I add a new music into the device that it should be added automaticaly without me having to look for it in the current playlist....

Even if it is in a folder.
If I add a mix off musics and music folders just like on this image http://www.casimages.com/i/170414082425965279.jpg.html

why are only the musics that aren't in a folder automatically added and the one in the folders not?

It's interesting how everyone seems to use their player in a different way.

I'm still having trouble grasping what exactly you want to achieve.

I don't even understand why you'd want every single track in one playlist.  Surely the whole point of playlists is to play a specific limited selection of your tracks, based on some particular concept, theme, mood, etc?  I don't think RB could cope with a playlist large enough to include all 120,000 tracks on my player anyway!

Me, I have hundreds of playlists in my media manager, including the 'all music' one, and then sync them along with the tracks to the player, when adding anything new.

Rockbox is, as I understand it, based on dynamic playlists.  You create them in various ways, including by simply selecting a previously PC-created playlist, which RB will create a dynamic list from - shuffled if shuffle is turned on.  Or you pick a folder or album or something and rockbox makes a dynamic playlist out of that.

I guess if you want to 'play all', you could maybe just have everything within a top-level folder 'music', and just select that folder to play.  Maybe it would need some other setting set, 'play folders recursively' or something - but I don't know exactly because I never play tracks that way, someone else would have to explain that more precisely.

Or you could, assuming you build/update the database, look at the all tracks listing in the database and select one and start playing it.  I think RB would then play all the other tracks.

Edit - here you are, I've read the manual for you!  (reading the manual is, as everyone knows, only something to do as a last resort).

It says

You can control whether or not Rockbox includes the contents of subdirectories when adding an entire directory to a playlist. Set the Settings → General Settings → Playlist → Recursively Insert Directories setting to Yes if you would like Rockbox to include tracks in subdirectories as well as tracks in the currently-selected directory.

So, do that, then select the top-level music folder to play all its contents.

My question is really simple but seems my explanation in english isn't good...

I have a playlist inside the ipod located in user/music/

In the music folder there are several musics and music folders.

If I add a music folder in it why isn't it automatically added at the playlist? If I just add a track it is automatically added.

Know I'm facing another problem, when some musics are played, there seems to be track change in the middle of the music even if I put thz ipod on the table without touching it... I have re-download the music on several different websites and same problem but on my computer the music is completely played...

I have checked all the settings in playback settings and didn't found anything weird..

Frankenpod I had already tried what you say in your edit...

The thing is I have to delete and recreate the playlist every single time I add a new folder...

You want a new playlist with the new tracks included, so would you not expect to have to replace the existing one with a new one?  I don't see how it could be otherwise.

Rockbox is based on dynamic playlists, select the top-level folder and it creates one with all tracks.  To include new tracks surely one would expect to have to recreate the playlist?

That you say an added track (not in a sub-folder) is added automatically actually surprises me, but I don't see why its a big deal to have an extra button-press to get it to update the all-music playlist with one including the new folder.  It's just one button-press.

Your second problem sounds as if, maybe, there are errors occurring while syncing?  Or, worse, hard-drive errors.  But do the skips always occur in the same place in the same tracks (which suggests errors in them) or are they random (which might be problems with the click-wheel).

The update playlist doesn't work for mz if the music is in a sub-folder

Always the same musics and always at the same moment...

Even if I re-download them from another platform

I jave found the solution to my problem, manually update playlist.

Now I have another problem... After having a problem with the "dir buffer is full" even after increasing max files I reinstalled everything.

After reinstalling the whole system, it doesn't go in sleep mode when earphones are plugged of... The first tile I installed rockbox it was doing it but not anymore... I have set the timer on 10min but still nothing after one hour...
