Initial bootup question
cliveb:
I use Rockbox on a Sansa Clip+
Recently the power button got broken, and the only way to start it up is to "jump start" it by plugging in USB power.
But of course that starts up the original Sansa firmware.
Is there any way to configure it so that plugging in USB power boots the Clip+ into Rockbox?
saratoga:
The Clip+ always boots rockbox on USB insertion. You don't have to change anything, this is the default behavior.
cliveb:
OK, you are the expert and obviously know what should happen, but I can assure you that *my* Clip+ boots in to the Sansa f/w when I plug in a USB cable.
I'm running version 3.13 - which I believe is the latest?
Is there anything that might explain why my Clip+ doesn't bahave as you say it should?
Should I try reinstalling Rockbox, and if so is there anything I need to do to clear it down first?
saratoga:
The version you install doesn't matter, the decision on what to boot happens before any of the rockbox code runs. I believe the only thing that influences what gets patched is the version of rbutil you used. Just checking the release notes now:
1.2.12 (bugfix release) - released 2012-02-06
(all) Boot Rockbox on USB insert rather then the Sandisk firmware on ClipV2, FuzeV2, Clip+, and Clip Zip.
Are you running a version from before then?
By the way, while this is not the source of your problem, you should probably update from 3.13 to the current build. Besides being quite a few years old at this point, things like USB and power management are barely functional on the clip+ in that build.
cliveb:
Thanks for the update. I will check the rbutil version and try again.
