It's usually the hardware that dictates that, not anything Rockbox can control.

We don't have any supported devices with AM radios. If that changes, I'm sure it would be supported.

Oh great! I´m right here!

I want to try to mod the radio section to a worldreceiver . The Radiochip in my SANSA CLIP is an Silabs 4702. maybe it is possible to replace it by a silabs 4735.
It covers also LW/MW/SW/FM stereo/RDS. here you can adjust many things for example filter bandwith.
Or silabs 4689: AM/FM/HD Radio/DAB/DAB+ Receiver w RDS but DAB/HD output stream needs to be decoded by software.

I could do soldering this stuff. f***ng small, but I can. I Build up a standalone radio with si4835. its for manual tuning by variable resistor, tuning bands switched by resistor network.
BUT- I am disabled in programming.

I try ARDUINO at the moment, but more than a temperature controler doesnt exist yet.

Would be great when someone feels pleasure to try some code . I would send my SANSA for testing.

It's going to be challenge on its own to fit reasonably sized loop aerial inside Clip and hope for good reception and RFI self-noise rejection.
