Time for a new version
« on: February 21, 2017, 02:07:12 PM »
I have scoured through all of the recent major changes to Rockbox since version 3.13, and I noticed that there has been a mountain of changes including many new plugins, new devices etc.

Isn't it time to create the next official stable version of Rockbox?

From what I gather, there are several things in the way of a release, but the biggest one is that we (as a project) don't know if Rockbox runs properly on all the devices we support.

I don't think that is a serious problem.  If there is a problem with the release, we usually just did point releases to fix them.

Bigger problem is that no one wants to organize it.

What would organizing a release entail? I'm slightly interested, but I'm still a (relative) newbie dev around here.

Note that the flash/archos stuff would no longer apply to new releases after 3.13.
