"Rockbox-Vortex", the unofficial IHIFI 770c port: Anyone know anything about it?

While researching whether my shiny new 770c could use Rockbox I came upon this website. Evidently it's an unsupported build; installation instructions are a bit sparse (none for the 770c specifically, or for any OS other than Windows), although someone on Head-Fi provides some slightly better ones here, and it's not mentioned in the Rockbox wiki at all.

It would be really nice to have some better firmware for this thing, but I'm extremely wary of bricking an £85 music player. Am I worrying too much?

This looks really interesting- I've been visiting this forum a lot over the past few days after my faithful Clips and Zips are finally giving out (headphone jack) :( Would much rather spend £70 on something new than an over-inflated 2nd hand Clip+/Zip. Though am also watching the AGPTek thread with interest...

It is worth being cautious. I got a xduoo X3 and installed the vortex rockbox. It kind of works, but not completely, and the key functionality I wanted (voice files) doesn't work. I'm currently debating whether to wait and hope for a fix, or sell it.
