Hiss on iPod 5g

(1/1)

clackingcomputer:
So I got some new 16ohm IEMs (Dunu Titan 1es) mainly for use with my iPod 5g in bed. My around ears and old IEMs had higher impedance, so I never had issues with hiss. Now that i have 16ohm, it's super noticeable. I've seen different results and opinions, so do any of you have suggestions on how to fix it? I really don't want to use an external amp since I fall asleep on this device lol

dreamlayers:
Add an in-line volume control. Turn it down a bit and turn up iPod volume to compensate.

I used one that looks like this with my Creative Labs EP-630 earphones. I'm just linking this to show you what I mean, and not recommending that particular kind, because it develops a bad connection much too quickly.

This also increases the lowest bass frequencies with EP-630, in a good way. I guess the capacitors on 5G iPod headphone output are too small for driving low impedances.
