xm/mod file question
(1/1)
Prisoner416:
So I downloaded a bunch of xm, mod, and other format files from the Keygenmusic music pack.
Normally, I use XMPlay to play these on my PC.
I was wondering if it was possible to display some of the file info in Rockbox that's embedded in the file.
In XMPlay, oftentimes if you open the "samples" list, you'll get an instrument list or sample list. These are normally used to store text that relates to the file... track name, artist info, comments, date, contact info, etc.
Would it be possible to have that text display in Rockbox on the sansa clip+? It's technically text as far as I know, so it shouldn't tax the player too much to have an option to display it.
asymsucon:
Press OK to cycle through Instrument and Sample list while playing xm modules.
Though in most cases the info is cropped and doesn't fit on the screen.
Unfortunately I'm having bit more difficulties playing more advanced IT modules, which are rendered incorrectly, compared to OpenMPT on Win.

Do you mean the center button on Sansa Clip+? Long press takes me to context menu, short goes to files menu.
asymsucon:
In simulator, it's short press, my apologies.
Didn't test it on the real thing yet. Somehow I got the view with active samples, can't remember now for sure
Prisoner416:
Ah, okay, seems it does work on XM files but you can't scroll the text for some odd reason. Info doesn't display for mod files, and it seems not all xm files are supported.
Got some failure loading sample info, plugin returned error on a few. Should I upload a sample of a non-loading file? XMPlayer plays it no problem.
Wonder if it can be rigged to display the text, though.
