Database hangs when attempting to update, Rockbox hangs when playing music.

Hello.

Recently, I had installed a microsd card into my 3rd Generation iPod. Before then, I had Rockbox installed onto the hard drive which comes with the iPod. Audio playback worked fine back then, however I only had ~100 songs on the iPod at that time. However, after installing Rockbox and putting ~9000 songs on the iPod, the "building database" process hangs at around 11500 found after committing the database. If I select files rather than database before attempting to build the database, I can view and select files for playback just fine. However, when doing this, Rockbox itself either hangs when scrolling through my music, or hangs around 2- 3 songs into an album. Also, when attempting to view the files after an attempt at building the database,  Rockbox freezes for some time and then shows no files. Is there a path to fixing this?

Thank you.

Every couple days someone asks about disk corruption and freezes when using those aftermarket SD card adapters.  If you get one that doesn't work with rockbox, you'll probably have to use the Apple firmware.

Really? Damn. Is there a list showing a list of sd card adapters that work with Rockbox?

No.

The adapter itself may or may not be the issue however. People often forget to do things that other people might treat as obvious, like safely ejecting media to ensure the write cache is written out. If you're just waiting for a transfer to finish and then yanking removable media, you're Doing It Wrong(TM) and every time it has worked prior is purely coincidental.

One must always safely eject removable media.

I'm not sure any are known to work 100% with rockbox.  Our ATA driver was reverse engineered for a mid-2000s ATA device.  Probably it would need to be updated to work with more modern hardware.
