Is there a way to ignore the album art? I don't care about it, I don't actually look at the player at all, I use it to listen to the music.

You can check the size of the album art with a tool like foobar2000 or another tag editor.

The later dev builds should have an option in them to tell it not to attempt to display the cover art.  (Thanks to Chris_s, who I believe added that option a few months ago.)  I would guess that that would avoid the problem.
