Available Rockbox-Compatible Players
« on: October 02, 2016, 09:49:24 PM »
Since the Sandisk Clip Sport is not RB compatible-- can someone recommend a similar type of player that is currently available that Rockbox has a stable port for.

If not, I could try to go through the list of ports that are listed. But it would nice if someone could recommend something good. I really like my Clip Zip-- so something along those lines.

I just want to repeat this plea: Please suggest a currently-available Rockbox-compatible player that's similar to the Clip-Zip. I have a Clip-Zip that's perfect for my needs. Got it a couple of years ago, when it was one of the few available on Amazon, at a reasonable price (I see a few selling now for well over $100 on Amazon). What do I get when mine finally dies? I'd like a small, simple player with a micro-sd slot. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there anything else that's even close?

In reply to stubbsonic's & my own post, my research suggests that the xDuoo X3 DAP is a potential replacement and upgrade to the Sansa Zip. The price is more than the original Sansa, but less than other comparible DAPs. However, there does not seem to be an 'official' Rockbox firmware release on Rockbox.org. Instead I found the firmware here: https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/4c2u3a/the_xduoo_x3_dap_now_has_a_fully_functional/.

The company's website is here: http://www.xduoo.com/xduoo/EnProductShow.asp?id=62

Would anyone else like to add any comments and contribute to this discussion? What current players OTHER than the XDuoo X3 are in the running to replace the little Sansa players?

PS: I suspect that many Rockbox users have this question. There's a related topic in the General Discussion, "Which Rockbox compatible mp3 player to replace my Clip+", http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php/topic,51397.0.html? A post by Serenity in that thread also suggests that "…the Xduoo X3 is very promising."

PPS: Anyone interested in the  XDuoo X3 should also follow this thread in New Ports, http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php/topic,51139.0.html

Also looking for a potential sansa clip replacement that can run rockbox.

AGPtek seems to hold some promise but apparently not rockboxed yet,

Need something small and with a  clip (sports/long runs) so xudoo might not cut it.

I use a running pouch even with my Sansa Clip.
