Accidentally formatted Clip+ with Rufus

(1/1)

redwald:
I've been using Rockbox successfully for several years. I was trying to format a USB stick with Rufus for a Windows install and confused 2 usb devices and formatted the Clip+ which was plugged in instead.

First thing I tried was to reformat the Clip+ as FAT32 with Windows. Clip mounts fine, so I used the Rockbox Utility to reinstall v3.13 back onto player. (I don't know how to reinstall the original firmware.)
I tried using the SansaUpdaterInstall utility from Sansa to load the OF clppa.bin v1.02.18 but it fails. I'm assuming the bootloader was erased or something???

But I know Rockbox copies the clppa.bin (15mb) file to the root of the drive so I thought that would be good enough. Rockbox *seems* to install fine. At least I can see the files in Windows File Manager but when I turn on player after the install I get the Rockbox logo and the words:
"No partition found"
Then it goes to a screen that just says "Plug USB cable"
I used to get two mount points: one for the Sansa Clip and the other I'm guessing for the external card (which I never had). Now I don't see that mount point anymore.

If I uninstall Rockbox I get:

*PANIC*
mount: 0
Then it goes to the next screen which just says:
Plug USB Cable

Player will shut off if I hold down power button for about 10 seconds.

If I hold down left button + Power button Sansa OF starts to load and then I get message:
"Fat is corrupted. Please connect the PC and..." then screen goes blank and turns off.

Please help!!!

OK...nevermind...I solved this.

I forgot that I was using GPT mode to initialize the Rufus Windows install (Duh :o). So all I had to do was reinitialize the Clip+ back to MBR, create a new partition & copy the bootloader-clipplus.sansa file and clppa.bin file to root. Turn Clip+ back on and the Sansa firmware automatically reinstalls itself.
